How To Read This Data

AES, the election services vendor for several tribes including ours, has a list of "Official Registered Voters" of the Kiowa Tribe on their website: https://www.electionpeople.com. While many have stated that this is not the same list as enrollment, I have confirmed that enrollment sends updates, so this list IS actively maintained. Additionally, you can see that while the list is mostly alphabetized, there are "one-offs" with last names, meaning that names are being updated.

Columns

These are mostly self-explanatory. The tribe has divided us into seven districts and included our first and last names. The remaining column is for names marked "Address on file Invalid/Undeliverable," which leads us to believe that these are the names of those members who the tribe has reached out to but have been labeled as unreachable.

On the Surface

We have a list of members, many who are unavailable – everything seems to check out. Interestingly enough, our enrollment department has gone on record and stated that they do not do any district updates. This makes sense, However, you can often learn more by what is not being said...

The data is now collected much more frequently and is available under the "Voter Lists" tab. The "List Pull Date" references when the data was actually scraped. Clicking on the "View List" tab will display the table as it was presented on the site for the respective date.

Note: With around 9,500 rows of data, it was labor-intensive to extract all of the information, with each round taking about 2–3 hours of manual clicks. However, utilizing some nifty programs, I was able to create a script that pulls the data on a daily basis, automatically.

Additionally, there are other lists included here that can be used to compare data from different points in time that allow us to gather even more information.

Comparing Data

This results page displays the comparison between two specific lists. More detailed descriptions are below:

Metrics

  • Total Voters in File 1 and File 2: These are the total number of voters for each respective list. File 1 will always represent the earlier of the two dates.
  • Unchanged Voters: Voters whose details (all four columns) remain exactly the same in both lists.
  • Voters with District or Status Change: Voters who experienced a change in either their district or their status.
